Installing Smart Modules

  1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two small screws that are holding a Blank Module Plate in place.  Be sure to save these screws.

  2. Insert a Smart Module into the empty slot with the Blue connector facing down.  You may need to wiggle the module slightly for it to fit properly into the slot.

  3. When the module is nearly completely inserted (within 1/2” [12 mm] of being fully seated), make sure the front plate of the module is parallel with the surface of the SmartNode.  This will ensure that the Blue connector will mate properly with the connections inside the SmartNode.

  4. Press the module into place. If properly engaged with the internal connections, you will feel a slight amount of friction while the Blue connector slides onto the internal PCB of the node.

  5. Use the two screws from the first step to secure the module.

The Blue connector on the Smart Module should be fully seated onto the internal PCB tab.  When properly connected, there is enough friction to prevent the module from falling out of the slot before the screws are attached.  If the module is loose and not making an internal connection, try inserting again while making sure that the module face is parallel with the Smart Node surface.

Do not insert anything other than a Smart Module into an open Smart Module Slot. For example, do not insert your fingers or screwdriver into this opening, as you may cause damage to the internal components of the SmartNode. If a slot will be unused, replace the Blank Cover over the slot opening.
